The IceBlock building system is an insulated concrete forming system which is ideal for constructing all types of above and below grade concrete walls. The system combines the insulating effectiveness of expanded polystyrene (EPS) with the structural integrity of reinforced concrete to provide an extremely energy efficient wall system. The resulting concrete wall is maintenance free, disaster resistant, and sound proof.
The main component of the system is a factory molded insulation block composed of an inner and outer formed layer of closed cell EPS insulation joined together with a steel stud which ensures a consistent cavity for the concrete. The blocks serve as concrete formwork and stay in place after the concrete cures to provide a fully insulated wall. All common finishing materials can be attached to the steel studs below the surface of the EPS to provide the desired interior and exterior appearance.
IceBlock is designed for use in:
Houses, Shops & Barns
Low-Rise Residential, Commercial
and Industrial Buildings
Foundations
Fire Rated Walls
Retaining Walls
Sound Barriers Along Roadways
Storage Tanks
Features/Advantages
Reinforced, super insulated concrete is used for walls above or below grade.
Can allow for significant savings in the size/cost of required heating/cooling systems.
Significant savings on monthly heating/cooling costs.
The wide steel flanges provide a fire-resistant fastening surface for interior and exterior finishes.
Concrete wall construction reduces air-borne and impact-type sound transmission.
Standard wall designs for sustained wind loads. Eliminates need for wood in exterior walls (except window and door bucks).
Coats compare favorably with that of wood framing or concrete block.

Efficient... use of concrete - 40% less concrete, 50% stronger.
Effective... use of insulation - R-20 (RSI=3.5) for a typical wall section. (The effective R-value is much higher due to the thermal inertia (K-value) of the insulated concrete and steel.)
Economical... alternative wall system. (Long term cost savings from reductions in heating and maintenance costs.)
